Marc Marquez wins the 2018 Japanese Grand Prix and won his fifth MotoGP world title



Repsol Honda Spaniard star Marc Marquez was crowned 2018 MotoGP champion after winning the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday at Motegi to clinch, his fifth world title his third in a row.


The 25 years old Spaniard Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) wrapped up a sensational seventh World Championship title at the home of Honda after claiming a stunning victory at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan.


Andrea Dovizioso came into Sunday's race trailing Marquez by 77 points, and any hope of a comeback wilted when he fell on the penultimate lap while attempting to keep pace with the eventual MotoGP champion.


Britain's Cal Crutchlow took advantage late on and finished second, while Alex Rins, finished third the Japanese race.


Marquez took first place after a tough fight from the second row of Sunday's grid, with Dovizioso having wrapped up pole in qualification.

The Honda rider won the fourth last race of the 2018 MotoGP season fighting against Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso. With the Japanese GP under his belt, the 25 years-old Spaniard Marc Marquez takes his seventh world championship title at the manufacturer's home turf, and his fifth world title in the premier class series. Marquez now equals Mike Doohan's world titles but is still behind Valentino Rossi's seven and Giacomo Agostini's eight world titles.




Marquez, dislocated his shoulder after enthusiastic hugs from his Honda team and British rider Scott Redding.



The victory gave Marquez his eighth win of the season at his team's home track.
"The shoulder just popped out. Luckily with the adrenalin it doesn't hurt, but I'll need to be careful not to overdo it on the dancefloor tonight," he said.



With Marquez crowned as the champion, it now needs to be seen who will be the runner up for the 2018 MotoGP season. The race is on between Dovi and Rossi with the latter behind by just 9 points over the Ducati rider. The season still has three races left at Sepang, Philip Island and Valencia.


The next race is in two weeks’ time the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island, Australia. In 26 Oct - 28 Oct 2018.
