Elina Svitolina won the 2018 WTA Finals


Elina Svitolina’s exceptional event in Singapore came to an excellent end for her, as the 6th-seeded Ukrainian claimed the biggest title of her career on Sunday by beating  No.5 seed Sloane Stephens of the United States, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, to win the 2018 WTA Finals Singapore.


Stephens, the 2017 US Open champion, controlled the first set but Svitolina broke three times in the second and she won the decisive set by 6-2.



The first Ukrainian to be crowned champion, the 24-year-old Svitolina recovered from a difficult start to win. 
Svitolina won all five of her singles matches this year to attain the crown-jewel season-ending championship and extend her career record in WTA finals to a staggering 13-2.


"It is amazing. I am very pleased with my performance this week," said Svitolina, who has won her past nine finals on the WTA Tour and not lost one in the last two seasons.
"There were nerves early on but I was just trying to fight for every ball and I think that made the difference in the end."





In the 2018 WTA Finals women's doubles champions are Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic which reminisced on a decade-long friendship.

As Australian Open champions Timea Babos of Hungary and Kristina Mladenovic of France defeated top-seeded Czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, 6-4, 7-5, in the Singapore final

The Hungary Babos, won the title last year with Andrea Sestini Hlavackova,
