Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) clinched his first victory of the 2018 MotoGP season and demonstrated a masterful ride to win the 2018 Italian Grand Prix, and he led a 1-2 for the Ducati Team at Mugello, while championship leader Marc Marquez had a horror race.
Ducati team-mate Andrea Dovizioso took second at Mugello while Valentino Rossi edged third, but a fall saw Marc Marquez's chances of victory end prematurely, while Dani Pedrosa crashed out of the competition.
Jorge Lorenzo led virtually from start to finish to win the Italian Grand Prix.
At the front, however, the story was red. Dovizioso had been holding the gap at just over a second, but Lorenzo just kept pulling the pin. Lap after lap, the ‘Spartan’ got the hammer down and simply pulled away into the distance – six seconds clear over the line, collapsing on the tank to take in the emotions.
The Spanish Jorge, uncatchable and untouchable to cross the line over six seconds clear for his first victory since Valencia 2016 - and his seventh Italian GP win.
Marc Marquez had a horror race at Mugello.
Championship leader Marc Marquez had just passed Rossi for second when he lost control of his bike and ended up on the dirt four laps into the 23-lap race. Marquez finished 16th and failed to score in the Italian race.
Still, Marquez leads Rossi by 23 points, with Maverick Vinales third, 28 points back.Vinales finished eighth the Italian GP.
The ‘Doctor’’s podium finish was another history maker in a milestone day at Mugello as the rider from Tavullia became the first to get more than 5000 premier class points.

Riders have a fortnight's respite before the MotoGP season resumes at Montmelo for the 2018 Catalunya Grand Prix on June 17, 2018 where Marquez will hope to restore a more substantial lead at the head of the MotoGP standings.
