Defending MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) cruised to victory at the Grand Prix of Americas as he claimed his first win of the 2018 season
The Spaniard had started fourth after collecting a three-place grid penalty in qualifying but took the lead on the first lap and never looked back as he completely dominated the race at the Circuit of the Americas.Compatriot Maverick Vinales, who had started on pole position for Yamaha, finished second and 3.5 seconds behind Marquez while Suzuki's Italian Andrea Iannone has completed the podium in Austin texas.
Italian Andrea Dovizioso finished fifth for Ducati and took over at the top of the standings with 46 points after three races, one clear of Marquez with Vinales third on 41 points.
It’s closer than ever as the flag falls at the end of the Americas GP.The spectacular ballet of man and machine once more ruled the rodeo in Texas - with the victory making it ten consecutive premier class wins for Marquez on US soil.
